A Note to Republican Voters
There is quite a pool of candidates on the Republican side.
Shelley Moore Capito is the incumbent who has been in Congress, whether in the House or Senate, for over 20 years.
Tom Willis ran for the U.S. Senate in 2018 before seeking Craig Blair's seat in the 2024. He managed to win his State Senate seat in 2024 and before he finished his first legislative session, he put in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Basically, he flipped his constituents in the 15th senate district the bird in order to pursue his real ambition.
The other two are want-to-be career politicians. Derrick Evans stupidly livestreamed himself "storming the capitol" on January 6, 2021 and encouraged others to force open a locked door so that they could enter the capitol building. He was a Delegate at the time. Trespassing is a crime, and if you're dumb enough record it and post it on the internet, you shouldn't be in a position of authority. Alex Gassarud just wants to be a politician. When you read his biography, it becomes obvious that all he wants is a career in politics and we need another career politician like we need a rat serving us a platter of feces. In my opinion, he is an ambitious moron.
These four provide what I call the illusion of choice. A vote for any of them is a vote for another career politician who will only care about you when they need to "romance" you for a vote. I am tired of the talking points and platitudes on both sides of aisle and I'm tired of the illusion of choice and tired of feeling like, no matter who I vote for, I end up a shit sandwich.
The real question is: are you tired of the illusion of choice? Only you can answer that.
And lastly, make sure you are registered to vote.
